What we are about

Our main aim is to observe and record wildlife and landscape in detail, identifying species and logging the information using our WhatsApp Group.

Walks

We have a Walks WhatsApp Group where we show photos of our members on the walks, the nature of the countryside and any plants and wildlife we come across so that we have a photographic record of our journeys.

Talks

Our talks are held in the Taplin Centre, St Leonards-on-Sea. Each talk is given by a specialist in  an aspect of nature, geography or theme.

Journal

The Journal is published on the 1st June each year. The previous year's findings are closed down on 31st December 2024 and then the data is processed and formatted during the period to 31st March. Typesetting then begins so that the journals can be published on time. Many organisations take our Journal. Our Journal motto Rerum natura sacra sua non simul tradit translates: “Nature doesn’t reveal all its secrets at once.” On our walks, we should take time to record the passing seasons and give Mother Nature a chance to unveil her wonders.

Natural History

You can take part in discovering the names of the various species we find, but we also have a team that are responsible for each category.

Archives

We have 130 years of digitised records available. They are searchable so that a global search can be made for any aspect - for example the name of a bird or insect.
